The Arado Ar196 was the standard seaplane of the German Kriegsmarine, operating from battleships and cruisers. Over 500 examples were built between 1938 and 1944, proving particularly effective in reconnaissance and submarine hunting. The agile aircraft provided its two-man crew with excellent visibility, and thanks to its robust construction, it was capable of taking off and landing even in rough seas.
